Q. : Why is there ample wealth in Swaminarayan Fellowship?
A. : While organizing the Holy Fellowship, Shree Hari carefully organized the same in such a way that it may fulfill the four fundamental desires of men, viz : religious sentiments, financial needs, rationalized desires and final spiritual liberation – (Dharma, Artha, Kama and Moksha). If the followers of Swaminarayan Dispensation follow His commands in Shikshapatri, that would lead them to simple living and high thinking, thus saving them from wasteful expenses of undesirable luxuries and addictions and show of riches and channelise their money for noble causes alone. Since the followers of other sects hardly observe such restraint and restrictions, they have very little left for sublimation of life.

So Bhagwan Shree Swaminarayan has ordained the rich to organize religious festivals and celebrations and all followers are ordained to spend 10th or 20th part of their income for religious purpose, so that all temples can be maintained smoothly.
Said Shreeji Maharaj : “Our followers may make our commune.”
This statement has great significance. There is a close unbreakable connection and sense of integration among all the followers of Swaminarayan Dispensation, so that they are helpful to one another in difficulties and crises.
Thus there is a general public impression that the follower of the Holy Fellowship is never miserable financially because he strictly follows the commands of Shreeji Maharaj, as mentioned in Shikshapatri.
Shree Hari has secured a boon from His Guru (preceptor) Ramanand Swami for keeping all the followers free for ever from all basic needs of life, such as food, clothing etc. This is the secret behind the prosperity of the followers of Bhagwan Shree Swaminarayan.
